Osteoarthritis of the Knee & Acupuncture

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, funded a landmark study of acupuncture.* Their research demonstrated that acupuncture provides pain relief and improves function for people with osteoarthritis of the knee.–National Institutes of Health**

The study was done in two outpatient clinics (an integrative medicine facility and a rheumatology facility) located in academic teaching hospitals and 1 clinical trials facility…*  570 patients with osteoarthritis of the knee participated.
